S1 - BEGINNING IMPROVISATION
This class is a fun and exciting exploration and introduction to the art of improvisation and our program.  The class consists of games and excercises that will develop the skills needed to improvise.  They include: emotional access, mental agility, physical responsiveness, and stage technique.  We will work to build an ensemble

S2 - INTERMEDIATE IMPROVISATION
This class continues our exploration of Improvisation!  S2 is for students with experience in improv either through classes or performance.  The class consists of games that strengthen the acquired skills of the student.  Emphasis will be on scene structure and performance.

S3 - ELEMENTS OF SCENES
This class is an introduction to scene design and creation.

• How and why scenes are created
• Character
• Relationship
• Environment
• Group Mind
• Group Ensemble

All areas covered in S1 & S2 will be incorporated into the class curriculum.

S4 - ADVANCED SCENE EXPLORATION

Deals with advanced concepts of scene creation and developement.

• Improv Styles
• Social Genres
• Creation of Ideas through (Get-Fors)
• Working With Status
• Use of Source Material
• Elevating Stakes

All areas covered in S1, S2 and S3 will be utilized in the developement of complete improvised scenes.

S5 - MUSICAL IMPROVISATION
Boot-camp intensive class for advanced students that focuses on organically integrating music into the performances of short and long-form styles and structures. No previous musical experience or talent required. The workshop will culminate in a musical performance for an invited audience.

PreReq: S4 or higher

S6- CLASS PERFORMANCE
Admission to this class is by audition and curriculum director approval. Cleveland Improv Institute "S6 students" will rehearse and perform their own show for the public.

PreReq:S5 or faculty approval 

S7 - CONSERVATORY
This intensive exploration class changes with each new session.   TBA
